Business, Real Property & Civil Litigation Law Firm is seeking a hard-working, motivated and experienced Legal Assistant/Office Manager to join its downtown SLO office. In this vital role, you will be involved in many aspects of a small company that is growing and in need of support. If you are a self-starter and high achiever with relevant training, certification, and experience, this is the perfect opportunity for you.
In this position, you will work closely with the firm’s attorneys in supporting the representation of our clients, which include some of the most prominent businesses and individuals on the Central Coast. The ideal candidate must be able to work independently, with solid organizational and analytical skills. They must be able to communicate well with potential clients, clients, staff, and attorneys. This is a full-time position.
Typical duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Preparing/processing correspondence, pleadings and discovery requests/responses
Assisting with real estate and business transactions
Calendaring and complying with court and office-based deadlines Managing client intake process, timekeeping and billing Answering phones and communicating with clients
Tracking fees and costs related to client matters Preparing and sending out monthly client invoices
Paying and logging office expenses/invoices; maintaining office supplies and vendors Interface with bookkeeper
Resolving minor IT issues
General oversight of the office’s day-to-day tasks, attorney agendas and needs
Qualifications and Skills:
- Civil litigation experience.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Superior computer skills, specifically with Microsoft Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and Adobe Acrobat Pro
- Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance
- California Notary Public or ability to obtain certification of Notary Public
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and administrative skills, with meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to take initiative, work independently, and assume responsibility to prioritize multiple tasks, deal with urgent client needs, and work under tight time deadlines
- Strong vocabulary, grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills
- Team player focused on internal and external service
- Corporate, real estate, and/or transactional work experience a plus.
